Flamingo Productions, was founded in 2000 by Shaun McCanna and Lee Ann Nelson. Flamingo’s emphasis is on human rights, democracy, and cultural education issues. Their first film, A Hazy Transparency, aired on PBS stations WLRN in Miami and KCET in Los Angeles as part of Hispanic Heritage Month. It was exhibited on Air Force One in March 2002 as in-flight educational entertainment for the White House Press Corps. Educational and home video distribution rights for A Hazy Transparency have been acquired by Films for the Humanities and Sciences. A Hazy Transparency was one of only eight documentaries selected for screening at the International Anti-Corruption Film Festival sponsored by Transparency International in Seoul Korea in May 2003. It was also selected to travel with the Films for Transparency Festival throughout Indonesia in 2004.
